Alvin and the Chipmunks was FAR more entertaining than this dreadful Night of the Living Dead / Resident Evil Clone (or vice-versa, since it is actually the 3rd remake of this “living dead” story). Warning spoilers follow to continue reading my rant, highlight the grey text that follows…But far more dismal/dreadful was how not even the hero, his family or even his dog survived…at least with Resident Evil you get a lot of kick-ass action and a hero who (in one clone or another) survives…this was just…just dismal, dreary, failure, hopelessness, (almost) all is lost…with the ONLY glimmer of goodness being in that he became a (PRETEND!!!) legend (RIP) at the end of the film…but gee wasn’t that the title? FURTHERMORE-much of the movie still didn’t make sense??? Why did HE just happen to be immune? How did he manage to build such a safe-house in all the bedlame? And on and on…what big hype for a simple (poorly done; stupid) horror film.
YES, just what I go to a movie to see NOT!!!
Just like Will Smith’s last movie (Pursuit of Happiness) which was downright painful to watch until the last 30 seconds when he finally got the job he’d been struggling 2 hours (movie time) to get.
I REALLY LOVE WILL SMITH, but Will, please get back to making ENTERTAINING films, not these painful dreadful films with little if any (happy) payoff at the end.
I EVEN LOVE WILL SMITH’s RAP stuff (and considering how much I abhore RAP…not so much the genre, but what we are getting from “rappers” today…this says a lot) Wild Wild West is one of my favorite songs ever (especially on a good system).
We also played the crazy Dungeons & Dragons type card game “Munchkin”.
I’ve also just gotten HD versions of:
Transformers
Harry Potter
Evan Almighty
in addition to the 1st season of Star Trek
That we can all view.
Note: Currently these titles are all “missing”:-(
Hopefully they turn up soon.
DUUUUUDE! HOLY KICK ARSE SHOWS BATMAN!!!
Patrick Stewart (Picard), who has been working with Tennant recently, has expressed a strong interest to be on Doctor Who, a show he loves.
His acting (like it always is) was outstanding, I felt, though, that the plot was meaningless, dreary and lacked excitement except for the occasional horror scare…and since I don’t really go to see horror movies, like Friday the 13th or Saw XXI, I found this movie (except for Will Smith) a waste of my time…and depressing and defeating and frustrating and a negative view of our future.
The real story this weekend was the continuing success of…
Alvin and the Chipmunks
which bagged an estimated $16 million for $176.7 million in 24 days and will soon beat The Simpsons Movie’s final gross. It’s now the highest grossing talking animal or live action cartoon adaptation on record, making more than movies like Stuart Little and Scooby-Doo.
Now the NEXT Will Smith film looks to be a real good film, Tonight He Comes, which we saw the preview for last week.
Premise: In this “dark drama”, a tired, bored and depressed superhero (Will Smith) (whose career has become more about womanizing, boozing and fame than about helping people) crash lands in a small town, befriends a 12-year-old boy, and begins a love affair with a married housewife (possibly the boy’s mother?). Meanwhile, while he is off the job, chaos erupts in the city he is supposed to be protecting…

If you missed either of the 2 episodes (like I did) you can go on fox.com to view them, although they might be a bit hard to find, they are there (and I don’t mean the recaps).
April, huh? Isn’t that when it’s supposed to air in the UK? I wonder if they’re going to pull a Torchwood & air the us episode 1 week after it airs in the uk? Interesting.
The island has some sort of healing powers (i.e. Locke once paralized now can walk…and when Ben shot him, the island (in the disguise of Walt) tells him to get up…Locke insists he cant…then he really tries, and he’s ok again. The island may be selective on this power as other folks haven’t been so lucky.
I can’t wait! Will Shia Labeouf be the next Indy? Time will tell.
Let us bow our head in honor of a man who gave, and will continue to give, us hours of entertainment that (gasp) actually requires you to think! Thanks Gary, you will be missed.
As I mentioned to JJ yesterday…guess he ran out of hit points;-)
If I can find it, I’ll bring in my dungeons and dragon DVD series (that’s never been opened but I haven’t seen and almost forgot about since we bought it a couple of months ago, dough).
D&D 4-6, LiS 7-8, Torchwood 8-9???
Looks like a fat water tower
Ah, but did you see the pics on ebay? It looks like he used the space pretty well.
It sold for a song…the winner only paid $135,000.
What a deal…
Bob calls me from a payphone and tells me he’s got stuff to sell and is holding a garage sale Saturday, but doesn’t (have) give me a contact phone number or an address…go figure?!?
I did him a favor by pretty much posting his call on our website even after I couldn’t get a hold of him on the number he called from?!?
I post my celphone first in the contact us section (4508344), because I rarely get (legit) calls on my home phone and only occationally (once a month)check my voice mail. Bob did call back (on the day of the garage sale when I was at WDW) left me a few more phone messages, still providing no phone (get a celphone, man, don’t you know they give them away??? You can even get disposable cel-phones!!!), apparently no email, and only an address: 5560 29th Place SW in Golden Gate.
So there was still no way to contact him about the stuff except to come by his house. His later messages offered to meet us at CVS at a particular time/date.
I have not heard from him this month.
Too bad, really, considering I’ve spent well over $100 this month on Star Trek stuff including the 7 phaser pistols I just bought.
Too bad he didn’t give us a way to contact him, or the location of the garage sale
Can we be any more state of the art?
Actually we can…
Calistoga recently replaced the 42″ 720p plasma TV with a 40″ 1080p LCD TV, which means we now get a truer picture, especially if we are viewing Blu-ray or HD-DVD.
Simply put a 720p TV canNOT properly ever display a 1080p signal…1080 lines does NOT go into 720 lines in any normal way shape or form…for that reason alone I recommend never settling for a 720p TV.
