There are no dues to join us, if you wish to join StarFleet, here are the membership options.

Costs?
Currently there are no other costs, like for newsletters and such.

Do I have to dress funny?
No, dress or “dress-up” as you please.

Do I have to do anything?
No, you choose your role/s (if any) within the club.

Can I bring my family?
Yes, we encourage and welcome families and friends of all ages!

Do I have to like Star Trek?
No. However Star Trekis the “vehicle” by which we fellowship, still, we enjoy many other Sci-Fi from the genre.

But I just want to socialize, is that ok?
Yes, we are a social club, but sharing an interest is part of socializing.

Is there more to this?
Yes, we go to conventions and as we grow we will enjoy other interests (like bowling, laser tag, et cetera)

What can I do?
There are many open positions on “the ship”, or we can tailor one just for you.

What’s with the ranks?
Basic role playing, they also define your role and position on the ship.

Can you order me around?
No. Except for basic conduct as chapter chairperson. But if you get seriously into the role playing aspect of the “ship”, you should “obey” a superior officer (or have the issue reviewed with one of the “command staff”, if you find that you disagree with the “request” for any reason).

No. But the food at Calistoga is great :)

Yes. Calistoga has free wi-fi services.

Can I bring my collection?
Yes. Bring whatever you’d like to “show and tell” the group about.

Can you explain what each department/division does?
Briefly, the following descriptions are merely logical guidelines to follow, and can be altered at the discretion of the command staff and division chief.

Command: led by the CO, the XO, then the SO, makes ship-wide decisions and makes things happen…generally good leadership and/or troubleshooting skills are needed.

Engineering: led by the Chief Engineering Officer, then the Assistant CEO, basically keeps the ship running by helping set up and break down…Engineers need a willingness to help others and be one of the “worker bees” vital to the ship’s operations. And help “design” the ship.

Science: led by the Chief Technical (Science) Officer, then the Assistant CTO, are relied on for information (trivia), they are who command goes to for answers, and often bring informative literature, submit articles to the website and/or newsletter, and possibly lead educational forums.

Medical: led by the Chief Medical Officer, then the Assistant CMO, tend to the crews well being by creating and/or bringing fun activities to keep the crews spirits high.

Security: led by the Chief Security Officer, then the Assistant CSO, protect the crew by being ready for Klingon attack and keeping an eye on the crews valuables so they don’t walk off by themselves.

Communications: led by the Chief Communications Officer, then the Assistant CCO, they keep good contact with the local media resources and other ships.

Civilians: Civilians are those who do not wish to participate in the ship’s hierarchy. They do not belong to Starfleet, and therefore do not hold rank or belong to a particular division. But they are free to participate in all ship’s activities, division meetings, help out, make suggestions (which are ALWAYS welcome), submit articles to the website and/or newsletter

Ambassadors: Are neither Civilians or Starfleet members, they are crew-members with outside affiliations (another Star Trek fan club, Klingon club…). Their rank and positions are recognized in regards to their other affiliations, and their input is appreciated, but since their authority is within a different affiliation, their rank is not within the ship. Although the CO could put them in charge at their discretion.

Each division Chief is in command of their division and reports to the XO and is free to hold their own meetings, write their own newsletters (in addition to submitting their division report for the ship’s newsletter).
